The Honor Guard was formed as a part of the now defunct Landkräfte, previously an independent branch of the military. In late 2018, the branch was merged with the Ground Forces, with the intention to eliminate the redundancy of having two branches focused on ground combat. Guardsmen are capable of both ceremonial and combat duties. The vetting process for the Honor Guard remains the same as the old Landkräfte Honor Guard, requiring 6 years of satisfactory service in the Ground Forces, as well as a strict background check, and character analysis.
